Individual Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy is a vehicle that facilitates positive changes in the individual's emotional wellbeing. To promote such changes, Muse Psychological Associates utilizes those approaches which have proved to be most effective, as determined by evidence-based research. Whatever the "technique" chosen for a specific person with a particular concern, however, psychotherapy is based primarily on the relationship between client and professional, a relationship which is characterized by trust and support.
Couple Counseling: When a couple find itself "stuck", either through unresolved conflict or due to a need to grow, it is advantageous to reinforce communication within the couple. Couple counseling, by introducing a third, objective person (the therapist) into couple discussions, offers a stage upon which difficulties can be negotiated within "neural" territory.
Evaluation/Testing: Evaluation is a continuous process which is performed on an ongoing basis throughout treatment. The use of psychological tests can sometimes aid in the evaluation process. Dr. Muse performs ADHD testing, including the BASC-2, DuPaul ADHD Scale and CPT.
Medication Consultation: Medication can be indicated or counterindicated for a given person. Dr. Muse reviews medication where needed and makes recommendations to the patient and to the prescribing professional.
